November, Channel Islands

Spent the weekend with friends in "Old" Jersey, the largest of the Channel Islands. Only a 40min flight from Manchester and 14 miles from France, Jersey is a remote and beautiful place. The only part of the United Kingdom to be occupied during the war, Jersey also has an interesting past as the Germans had prisoners of war build massive amounts of military fortresses during their five year occupation.
After a weekend there I am not sure why New Jersey was named after this island. The only similarity I could find was the beaches and the property prices! In Old Jersey its so highly coveted, you can only buy property if you have lived there for 14+ years. And we thought the Jersey Shore was expensive!
